As many of you may have heard, the IS service is coming to an end on July 31, 2018. This is due to the closure of the Independent Support (IS) programme.
Over the last few years lots of parents and carers in Torbay have had their child or young person’s statement transferred to an Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan. Many of you will have had help from Independent Support to do that. Some of you will have had help during an annual review of your EHC plan too.
Now that all the transfers from statement to EHC plan have been done, the Independent Support programme will be ending on July 31.
We know that some parents and carers may be worried about what will happen after the end of the month.
However, we want to reassure SENDASS Torbay parents this will not have a massive impact on them as we have always delivered both the IS and IAS services so you will just transfer across to an IAS service which will be the same case worker you have always dealt with, ie Kelly (far left) or Sam (left).
